it through the incarnate Word. We must think of this, however, as conditioned by his redemptive activity. There is, and cannot but be, an inseparable relation between divine creation and divine providence, for God does not withdraw his activity from the world which he has once for all brought into being, but correlates the creation with himself in a new way by embodying his creative Word and redemptive activity within the created order.
